MANILA - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday announced that they have started their hunt for a doctor who allegedly botched a Filipino singer's butt enhancement procedure 11 years ago.

The suspect, identified as Dr. R. A. Eugenio, reportedly performed an unauthorized silicone injection on the buttocks of singer Selina Sevilla in 1998. She filed a formal complaint before the NBI Special Action Unit (SAU) after her buttocks showed signs of bruising and infection.

Sevilla's lawyer, Atty. Rey Dazo, said they may charge Eugenio with reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries.

Atty. Lito Magno, chief of the NBI-SAU, said that their initial investigation reveals that Eugenio is not a licensed doctor.

Investigators visited Eugenio's former clinic at Dominga St. in Malate, but found that the establishment was replaced with a store. They said Eugenio had left the country years ago.

Magno said the NBI enlisted the help of international embassies in providing information about Eugenio's current whereabouts and to warn the public, if Eugenio is still practicing medicine abroad.

Sevilla said Eugenio was one of the highly-recommended cosmetic doctors back when she was starting her singing career. She said he was as famous as Dr. Vicki Belo, who is similarly facing a complaint for a botched butt augmentation surgery performed in her clinic.

Sevilla said Eugenio was popular among bold stars, new celebrities and bar girls who were applying for jobs in Japan. She explained that she had to undergo cosmetic procedures because of the demands of her job as a sexy singer.

In an appearance before the media, Sevilla showed pictures of her buttocks, which showed bruising and swelling. She said the silicone gel had seeped to other parts of her body and is now eating at her tissues. She said she now requires 2 to 3 months of hospital treatment.
