Classes in QC universities suspended on July 25
MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Higher Education suspended classes in colleges and universities in Quezon City on Monday, July 25, to give way to the second State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III.
According to Aldrin C. Cuna,chief-of-staff of the Quezon City government, classes are suspended at the following schools:
· ABE International Business College (Commonwealth)
· Access Computer College (Lagro)
· AMA Computer College (Fairview)
· Asia School of Arts and Sciences
· Asian Institute of Computer Studies
· Ateneo de Manila University
· Bestlink Institute of IT
· Colegio de Sta. Teresita de Avila
· Datamex-College of St. Adeline (Fairview)
· Diliman Computer Technology Institute
· FEU-Fern College
· FEU-Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation
· Institute of Community and Family Health
· Mary the Queen College
· Metro Manila College
· Miriam College
· NCBA (Fairview)
· New Era University
· Our Lady of Fatima University
· St. Anthony Mary Claret College
· St. Bernadette of Lourdes College
· St. Dominic Institute
· STI (Fairview)
· University of the Philippines Diliman
The Department of Education also suspended classes in the elementary and high school levels in Quezon City.
The advisory, issued by Dr. Corazon C. Rubio, OIC-Schools Division Superintendent of Quezon City, said Saturday classes will be held to make up for the class suspension.
"In view of the forthcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA) of His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III on July 25, 2011, Monday, please be informed that classes in all levels (Kinder-Elementary-Secondary) both public and private schools are hereby suspended," the advisory said.
DepEd spokesman Kenneth Tirado said the class suspension applies to both public and private high schools in Quezon City.
