MANILA — The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has found a creative way to dispose of thousands of unclaimed license plates that they have confiscated in the past two decades.

On Tuesday, the MMDA posted on its Twitter account several photos of vehicle plates turned to garbage cans, book holders, magazine and file holders, and plant boxes.

Reporter Dennis Datu of dzMM also took some photos of the recycled unclaimed plates.

Earlier in June, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino announced their plans to recycle the confiscated license plates that have accumulated to 22,628 since 1994.

MMDA has found recycling the plates more practical than selling it to junk shops since tin cans are sold at a cheaper price.
