Seven-vehicle collision stops traffic along EDSA Ayala
MANILA, Philippines - Five cars and 2 passenger buses were involved in a multiple vehicle smash-up along the southbound lane of the Edsa-Ayala tunnel around noon today.
According to Rene Salire, segment commander 4 of Metro Manila Development Authority, the accident happened around 11:45 am with the 7 vehicles bumping into each other on their way out of the tunnel.
Two people were injured in the accident and were immediately brought to hospital. The southbound lane was completely blocked by the involved vehicles and traffic was at a standstill for about 30 minutes before the MMDA was able to tow the vehicles.
Investigation is underway but authorities assumed the smash-upwas caused by slippery road due to heavy rains.
As of 1:15 p.m., the southbound lane has been opened to motorists and traffic has slightly eased. All vehicles were brought to MMDA headquarters in Orense, Makati.
