High school student robbed, killed in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – A high school student was robbed and then killed in Sampaloc, Manila on Thursday night.

Victim Jersey Jaye Dagli, 17, was stabbed in the chest after he refused to give his cellphone to suspect Jontahan Lising.

Dagli was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his wounds.

A witness immediately alerted the police about the incident, resulting in Lising’s arrest.

While on his way to the hospital to undergo medical tests, Lising allegedly attempted to seize the gun of PO1 Joseph Vistan while they were inside the police car.

Lising was shot dead by another police, PO2 Ryan Malacad, while the car was travelling along Geronimo Street at around 1 a.m.

Lising, 34, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Malacad and Vistan have been placed under investigation for the death of the suspect. – report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
