MANILA - TV5 news anchor Paolo Bediones posted on his Instagram account an image of the alleged blackmail letter that he received over a video showing him having sex with an unidentified woman.

"At the PNP-Anti Cybercrime Division. Investigation has begun. Please help me put a stop to this. Thank you," the accompanying caption of the news anchor's post read.

Bediones has filed a formal complaint before the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group over the release of his private video on the Internet.

In his complaint, he claimed that he received a blackmail letter over the video around three months after he had his broken laptop repaired.

The sex video, which Bediones said was taken five years ago, was stored in his laptop.

Bediones, however, ignored the letter.

According to the alleged blackmail letter, the news anchor's video will not be released to the public if Bediones calls the cellphone number provided.

"Hawak ko ngayon ang mga sex videos mo. Madali naman akong kausap! Kung ayaw mong lumabas ito sa publiko, tawagan mo ako," the letter read.

"Antayin ko ang tawag mo! Wag mo patagalin mainipin ako," it added.

The PNP said it is now investigating the case, and is tracing the links of the video to determine who uploaded it on the Internet.

The people who uploaded the video will face charges for violating Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.
