Court of Appeals receives bomb threat

MANILA, Philippines - Employees inside the buildings within the Court of Appeals (CA) compound were evacuated Thursday morning due to a bomb threat.

Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay, Manila Police District (MPD) director, said the bomb threat was received by Abelardo Batlagan, a security guard, around 6:40 a.m..

Magtibay said that according to the security guard, a man called and told him that a bomb will explode in the docket section of the CA's Centennial Building.

Police immediately told employees who were already inside the Centennial Building to evacuate. Other employees in the annex and main buildings were also told to immediately leave the buildings.

Magtibay said that bomb-sniffing dogs were immediately deployed and scoured the buildings for bombs. After 2 hours, the search yielded negative results.
