MANILA, Philippines – The local government of Manila suspended its Friday afternoon classes in public schools due to floods brought about by heavy rains since last night.
Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, in his official Twitter account, said: “I ordered public elementary to high school afternoon classes be suspended. Morning classes will continue until 12 noon.”
Other local government units in Metro Manila and nearby areas also suspended classes.
Weather bureau PAGASA said the rains were caused by the combined effects of the southwest monsoon and active low pressure area, which was last spotted 320 kilometers east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora.
