Manila opens more roads for trucks
MANILA – The city government of Manila is set to open additional 24-hour express trade lanes to help decongest its ports.
Vice Mayor and city traffic czar Isko Moreno said Manila is preparing to open Quirino and Osmeña highways towards the South Luzon Expressway as additional routes for trucks bound for Batangas and Laguna, in a bid to address traffic congestion in those areas.
An express trade lane initially opened on Roxas Boulevard in June has helped ease track traffic coming from Cavite.
Meanwhile, the national government has also contracted a container yard outside Metro Manila for the transfer of thousands of empty container vans to help address the port congestion. - ANC
