US Embassy, some private offices suspend work
MANILA - The United States Embassy in Manila and some private offices have suspended work Monday due to heavy rains and floods.
The US Embassy said it is closed on Monday, August 19, 2013, due to severe flooding in and around Metro Manila.
Work has also been suspended in the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) Head Office in Pasig City and all Maybank Philippines Metro Manila branches and head offices.
The National Capital Region Police Office also cancelled its 112th Anniversary Celebration set today.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) extended on Monday its red rainfall warning over Metro Manila and other areas.
In its advisory issued at 6:15 a.m., PAGASA said heavy to intense rains will affect Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Pampanga, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Tarlac, Bulacan, Occidental Mindoro and Northern Quezon for the next 3 hours.
Meanwhile moderate to heavy rains affecting Nueva Ecija and the rest of Quezon will most likely to continue for the next 3 hours.
"SEVERE FLOODING is expected. ALL are advised to take precautionary measures," PAGASA said.
