MIAA: All flights on hold
MANILA, Philippines - Manila International Airport Authority manager Jose Honrado said all flights in all terminals are currently on hold as most roads going to the airport are not passable.
In an interview on dzMM, Honrado said they are waiting for final announcements of airline companies on which flights will be cancelled for the rest of the day.
"All flights are on hold dahil nga non-passable yung mga daan papunta sa mga terminals natin, yung Ninoy Aquino Avenue is not passable. Yung MIA road is deep under water, ganun din yung Terminal 4 so inaantay natin sa mga airline if they want to declare cancelled yung flights nila today or put them on hold," he said.
Honrado also noted that the ramps at the NAIA Terminal 4 are also flooded, which may prevent some airplanes from taking off. Terminal 4 is used by Tiger Airways (formerly SEAIR).
"Yung rampa natin malalim din ang tubig may kalaliman deep. Too deep for safety purposes kaya naghihintay ang mga airlines sa weather, kung itutuloy," he added.
He said airlines should not have any problem mounting international flights.
Earlier this morning, flights going to Caticlan and Laoag had been cancelled. - With ANC
