Muntinlupa now under state of calamity
MANILA - The city of Muntinlupa is now under a state of calamity, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said Tuesday.
Fresnedi said the city council agreed to declare the state of calamity, authorizing him to use the city's calamity funds to help 7,500 families in 8 barangays affected by massive flooding.
"We are now packing goods for distribution," he said.
The mayor said the floods are still not abating particularly in the 8 barangays near Laguna Lake.
He said it was the third time that the city was hit by massive floods. He said that during Tropical Storm Ondoy, parts of Muntinlupa were flooded for 3 months.
