Isko tells evacuees: Don't go home yet
MANILA -- Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno on Wednesday urged evacuees not to return home yet until floods in all areas have already subsided.
In an interview with ANC, Moreno said they are only allowing residents to leave the evacuation centers to check on their homes.
"Although ganito yung weather medyo komportable, hindi pa namin sila papayagan, not until ma-clear yung bagyo I mean as in ligtas na sa ulan ang lungsod," he said.
"As much as possible pinapayagan namin silang bumalik-balik pero hindi namin so far pinapayagan na bumalik ng pang-matagalan," he added.
Moreno also noted that they have enough facilities to accommodate all residents displaced by the floods brought by the southwest monsoon enhanced by tropical storm "Maring."
"Mas mahirap ang gumamot o umattend sa problema kaysa itong we're trying to mitigate the effects of this typhoon, and one way of doing so is to evacuate na namin sila."
"Wala naman sigurong masama na pansamantala sila dito sa evacutaion center because we have so much facilities na available naman sa ating mamamayan," Moreno said.
