Couple denies slay try vs Cristina Decena
MANILA - A couple tagged in the ambush attempt against businesswoman Cristina Decena cried foul over Decena's accusations against them.
Decena, in an interview with radio dzMM's "Rated Korina" on Wednesday, identified Manuel Dasig of Dasman Residences and his wife Imelda as the alleged perpetrators of the ambush in Banawe, Quezon City last August 14 .
"Sila yung nag-utos para ipapatay ako," Decena said, noting that two were her for former clients who are now facing falsification and estafa charges filed by her.
Decena is the chief executive officer of Philippine Asian Decena Realty & Development Corporation.
In a statement sent to ABS-CBN's Korina Sanchez on Friday, the Dasig couple's lawyer said his clients "vehemently deny" any involvement in the ambush attempt against Decena.
"Ms. Cristina Decena's irresponsible statement and baseless accusation during the interview already tainted the names of Mr. Manuel Dasig and Mrs. Imelda Dasig," Atty. Rudolf Philip Jurado said.
"Our clients vehemently deny any involvement whatsoever in the ambush committed against Ms. Cristina Decena. In fact, as per our clients, the National Bureau of Investigation has yet to conclude its investigation regarding their supposedly involvement in the matter," he continued.
Nonetheless, Jurado said Mr. and Mrs. Dasig are willing and ready to face charges if a case will be filed against them.
One of the motorcycle-riding gunmen and another man who served as a lookout have already been arrested.
Decena recalled that one of the arrested suspects, Henry Quiñonez, was the man who served her coffee when she had a meeting with Mr. Dasig inside his office.
She added that Quiñonez had confessed to her last Sunday that it was Mr. Dasig who instructed him to kill her.
