Alert level 1 raised over Marikina River anew
MANILA (UPDATE) – Alert Level 1 was raised over Marikina River Saturday night due to a thunderstorm that affected Metro Manila and Rizal.
The Marikina public information office said the water level at the river rose to 15.5 meters, as of 9:43 p.m.
An Alert Level 2 will be raised if water level reaches 16 meters above sea level, which calls for “preparedness” from the residents living in the river’s vicinity.
Thousands of residents near Marikina River were forced to flee their homes Wednesday night after the water level in the river rose to 17 meters, prompting authorities to raise Alert Level 3.
Under level 3, residents are told to evacuate.
