Grenade blast hits house in QC
MANILA (2nd UPDATE) – A grenade explosion hit a house in Barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City on Wednesday morning.
Initial information from residents said the explosion occurred at the garage of 46 Sct. Fuentebella St., near Sct. Tobias Street, shortly before 6 a.m.
The explosion occurred inside the house compound. The owner of the house, Reynaldo Fuentes, said he was with his wife and child inside the house when an unidentified suspect hurled the grenade.
No one was reported injured in the explosion, but the house's gate was damaged and the rear tire of a white Toyota Fortuner parked at the garage was blown.
A lever and pin of an MK2 fragmentation grenade were found at the site of explosion.
Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano said the explosion may be work-related, noting that Fuentes was recently promoted as CEO of a construction firm.
Bomb squad experts have closed a portion of the street while investigation is ongoing. -- report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
