MANILA -- A man was killed in a shootout with police in Interior Tramo Street, Pasay City on Wednesday morning.
Joint elements of Pasay City Police Station Intelligence Branch, Special Reaction Unit, and Pasay Police Community Precinct 3 had launched a police operation against Jeric de Asis for a homicide case and pending warrant of arrest for illegal possession of firearms.
De Asis resisted and opened fire at police operatives during the service of the search warrant, which resulted to his death.
De Asis was a suspect in the killing of Jimmy Fiel, 59, on August 12.
According to reports, De Asis, armed with a firearm, took a shot at Norwel Ortega while riding his motorcycle.
De Asis missed Ortega, but a bullet fatally hit Fiel.
Four others were also arrested for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions.
Those arrested were identified as Reynaldo De Asis, Mark Louie Mendoza, Susana De Asis, and Gieroll Gaitos.
Confiscated during the operation were two caliber .45 guns, a caliber .38 revolver, a caliber .22 pistol, assorted ammunitions, and a motorcycle plate number.
