Napoles' camp opposes Makati jail transfer
MANILA – One of the lawyers of Janet Lim Napoles on Thursday afternoon filed an urgent motion seeking reconsideration of a court order that Napoles be detained at Makati City Jail.
In the 7-page motion, Napoles’ camp, through Atty. Bettina Zamora, requested that Napoles be transferred instead to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig or that she be allowed to stay in Camp Crame, where she is temporarily detained.
Zamora said Napoles is in grave and imminent danger and has been receiving death threats.
Powerful and wealthy personalities have been implicated by whistleblowers in the ongoing investigation on the alleged misuse of the pork barrel funds.
Zamora said there is credible information that there are individuals who want to silence her.
The manifestation further states that Napoles in not a felon and that she voluntarily surrendered.
The commitment order on Napoles' transfer was released on Thursday after the Criminal Investigation and Detention Group-National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR), through its head Senior Superintendent Robeto Fajardo, returned the warrant of arrest of Napoles to the court.
However, the Philippine National Police said the Makati facility will be inspected first before the transfer can be implemented. -- Reports from Zhander Cayabyab, dzMM; Pinky Webb, ABS-CBN News
