MANILA, Philippines – A suspected robber was killed in a police encounter in Manila on Tuesday morning.

The slain suspect was part of a motorcycle-riding tandem who allegedly robbed a mall employee, identified as Myra Sadongdong, near Harrison Plaza in Malate, Manila.

The alleged robber's partner escaped arrest.

Sadongdong said she had just alighted a jeepney when one of the robbers pointed a knife at her and took her bag.

She was able to call for help from roving police, resulting in the shootout. – report from Noel Alamar, dzMM
