Protesters disrupt DSWD budget hearing
MANILA – A group of protesters again disrupted the budget hearings at the Lower House, this time disturbing the budget hearing of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
A group of protesters sneaked into the budget briefing of the agency at the House Appropriations Committee Wednesday afternoon.
The protesters, allegedly from Gabriela, criticized the DSWD's budget for the conditional cash transfer program, which in 2014 will go up to almost P70 billion and will have an expanded coverage to include high school students.
The protesters were asked to leave by security.
