Metro Manila crime rate up by nearly 60%
MANILA, Philippines - More crimes were committed in Metro Manila this year, compared to last year.
It was in his third State of the Nation address last July that President Aquino boasted that the crime rate in the country has gone down.
"Ang mahigit 500,000 krimen na naitala noong 2009, mahigit kalahati na po ang nabawas," he said.
The problem was, Aquino had old and outdated crime statistics.
Crime incidents indeed went down, but not in Metro Manila.
The Metro Manila police office says it went up by nearly 60% in 2012.
