Briton slain over Philippine Internet love triangle
MANILA, Philippines - A British man who went to the Philippines to propose to a woman he met in an Internet chat room was stabbed to death by her jealous lover Sunday, police said.
John Lorne McDonald's would-be bride, Nanqueen Romero, 31, also sustained multiple wounds after being attacked by her Filipino lover, police said in a statement.
McDonald organized a party at Romero's home to ask for her hand in marriage, police said, but it was not clear if she had told him about her Filipino boyfriend, Anselmo Locastales, who turned up and attacked the couple.
Locastales is on the run, police said.
The British Embassy could not be reached Sunday and no personal details about McDonald were immediately available.

They resorted to the "services" because nobody, i mean NOBODY, will be interested to hook up with them in their country. This based on my personal observation.
I just returned from US after working for 25 years as an executive to a Fortune 500 company. I chose to take early retirement at the age of 55 yrs to spend the rest of my life in the Philippines, with my family and friends. My son is a US doctor and married to a white american doctor. Our daugther-in-law's family are very nice and not racist at all.....maybe because they are well-bred and well-off. I've encountered too many "white thrash" in the US and they always acts like they are better than colored people...WHAT A SHAME.Bet you, the reporter and some bloggers below are of the same thrash breed.

I was married to foreigner way before this internet was here. I did not want to leave my beloved country because of poverty. I left the country because I was destined to be with a man I truly love. I have a descent job at Ayala Corporation where I made a lot of money during the 70's and 80's. My husband choose to marry me because he loves me and because we, Filipinos have strong family values and majority of us don't believe in divorce. Alas, I am still happily married up to this present times.
My foreigner in-laws were with us many times and they enjoy the hospitality of the Filipino people. We have properties in the Philippines and we visit the country 1-2 times a year with no worries about all these junk negativity.
This negative reports about women in the pacific islands makes me angry and is disgusting and degrading.

I go to The Philippines regular, 3or4 times a year to visit my wifes family with her. Grace from uk, have you ever even been there? if so where? obviously not the regular residential areas. 96million people in Philippines, 85percent of them live in complete poverty and I mean they don't know where next meal is coming from. Try visiting one of the largest residential places you will have different views. Don't misunderstand me, I have visited many of the 7500 islands that complete the country and many of them beautiful paradise islands but the people who live in these places accumalate around 7percent of the overall population, lets not forget the other 89million. If you doubt my word with this simply type into youtube driving through tondo manila, unfortunately the word impoverished is completely correct, maybe even being kind, as it's much worse than this.I have just realized you may even be Philippine, if the place is not as bad as this why did you ever leave???

We do not deny that we are a third-world country but don't generalize that all Filipinos are impoverished. Maybe you didn't have the chance to meet Filipinos who are educated and live well above the poverty line. But as an educated human being from UK (I presume since UK is a rich country), you should know better than to generalize / label other nationalities.
