MRT operations back to normal
MANILA (1st UPDATE) – A crack on the tracks between Santolan and Ortigas stations prompted the Metro Rail Transit (MRT 3) to temporarily stop train operations in the affected areas on Friday afternoon.
The MRT management said southbound and northbound trips, between North Avenue and Shaw Boulevard stations, were stopped past 2 p.m. after a crack was observed on the tracks.
Repairs were immediately conducted by the MRT management as hundreds of passengers were stranded.
Operations were back to normal as of 3:30 p.m.
MRT operations director Ato San Jose said the tracks will be replaced at 11 p.m. after train operations.
“’Yun nangyari na ‘yan, part na din ng wear and tear ng ating mga riles. So kapag may nangyaring abnormality sa riles, agad nating nade-detect ‘yan sa ating control center at nagi-implement tayo ng precaution,” San Jose told ANC’s “Top Story.” -- With reports from Robert Mano, dzMM; ANC
