Roxas: Taguig at fault for taking down Makati banner
MANILA -- Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas on Friday said Taguig officials clearly erred in taking down a banner along McKinley Road in Forbes Park which is under the jurisdiction of Makati.
This, after the local government of Makati released footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera showing employees of both cities in an altercation after Taguig personnel removed a "Welcome to BGC Makati" banner along the road.
In an interview with ABS-CBN's "Umagang Kay Ganda" Friday morning, Roxas said the Taguig's Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) was wrong in removing the banner, noting that the area was not within the two cities' disputed territory.
So malinaw na malinaw po yun," Roxas said.
Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay has asked Taguig to surrender its personnel involved in the incident.
Taguig, meanwhile, said it will file charges against the chief of Makati police for allegedly encroaching in Taguig's territory.
Meanwhile, Roxas said that police officers should not interfere in the dispute and maintain status quo until the court makes a final decision on BGC's ownership.
The Court of Appeals recently awarded BGC and other parts of Fort Bonifacio to Makati City.
Taguig, meanwhile, has vowed to fight the ruling and has filed a motion for reconsideration.
-- With ANC
