'Sept 11 rally vs pork may be used vs Palace'
MANILA -- Malacañang is unperturbed by the planned anti-pork barrel rally on September 11, but pointed out that there is a possibility that it could be used against the Palace.
"Hindi fear, hindi takot, but that's always a possibility [the rally being used against the Palace] in any action that requires the presence of citizens. That's always a possibility," deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said.
"I think the citizens are smart enough to see kung ano 'yung mga nangyayari sa ganitong bagay," Valte added.
The Palace also earlier expressed concern about the "inconvenience" that the rally at EDSA will cause to the public.
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that while it cannot stop organizers from staging the protest action, the Palace hopes that organizers will consider the traffic that it would create in the major thoroughfare.
Asked for his message to the rally organizers, Lacierda said, "We expect them to be responsible and prudent."
