P120-million shabu seized in QC
QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Around P120 million in high-grade methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu was seized by police in a raid at an apartment in Loyola Heights, Quezon City on Tuesday.
The Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force led by Deputy Director Raul Bacalzo confiscated the illegal drugs weighing around 24 kilos.
The apartment’s residents, identified as Joshua Tan, a certain “Mr. Thomas,” a “Mr. Xiang,” a “Mr. Lee,” and an unidentified woman were not around when the raid was conducted, police said.
Police placed the apartment under surveillance for two months.
The raiding team found the house empty and abandoned during the raid. Police found the shabu hidden inside a storage room.
Police Superintendent Francisco Uyami, a member of the raiding team, said the suspects may have a larger amount of illegal drugs in their hands because of reports that they were seen hauling off materials a few nights before the raid. – with a report from Gretchen Malalad, ABS-CBN News
