Tutuban mall fire out after 2 days
MANILA, Philippines – The fire that gutted Cluster 1 of Tutuban Mall in Divisoria, Manila for 2 days was finally declared “fire out” early Friday.
In a statement, the management of Tutuban Center said “mopping-up operations are presently ongoing” at the 3-storey mall, which was hit by a fire at around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Firefighters had a difficult time putting out the huge fire due to lack of personnel and water supply.
The fire was declared under control at around 10 a.m. on Thursday. Fire out was declared at 1 a.m. on Friday.
Mall management said it is now addressing the needs of its tenants affected by the fire.
“Tenants may already coordinate with the Tutuban Center Building Administration or go directly to the Cluster Building Help Desk located at the Loop Road Skybridge A,” Tutuban Center Management said in a statement.
The management also said normal operations have resumed at Centermall, Prime Block, Robinsons Supermarket and Robinsons Department Store.
Authorities said more than 30 firemen and fire volunteers were hurt while putting out the fire.
They have yet to determine what caused the incident.
