3 alleged hold-uppers killed in encounter
MANILA – Three alleged hold-uppers were killed during an encounter with policemen along Manggahan bridge, Pasig City early Thursday morning.
The three suspects were apprehended by police at a checkpoint because their black car did not have a plate number. A chase ensued followed by a bloody encounter between the suspects and police.
The suspects’ bodies have yet to be identified.
Authorities alleged that the suspects were members of the notorious Alvin Flores group.
Such group was reported to be responsible for the raid of four warehouses in Ignacio compound, Manggahan last Aug. 30 wherein more than P1 million was taken away. The warehouses’ security guards pointed to the Alvin Flores group.
Their modus operandi is to pose as members of the Philippine National Police. This was confirmed by a CCTV camera capture which showed the group members conducting their “raid” in police uniforms.
In addition, the Alvin Flores group is said to be behind the hijacking of Unilever products last Sept. 5 in Pasig.
Authorities from the Eastern Police District, which is headed by director Chief Superintendent Benjardi Mantele, said their allegations were boosted after finding various bonnets, caps, and police and special weapons and tactics (SWAT) uniforms in the suspects’ car. – Report from Dominic Almelor, ABS-CBN News
