Conjoined twins stable, discharged from hospital
MANILA - After more than a month in hospital, conjoined twins Anne and Nicole have finally been discharged and are already home.
Kathy Arganda, the twins' mother, said she is happy that the two have survived and are well enough to be discharged from hospital. She said the two can now drink milk from their baby bottles.
"Ngumingiti kapag kinakausap po. Nakatingin sa iyo (They smile when I talk to them. They even focus their eyes)," she said.
Kathy said she now prays that her daughters’ condition would continue to improve. “Sana nga po magtuloy-tuloy na yung paggaling nila,” she said.
The twins’ pediatrician, Dr. Maria Consuelo Lapak-Tamaneng of the Philippine Heart Center, said the babies are in stable condition despite sharing only one body.
"There were discussions about the condition of the twins and the final decision is that it would benefit them if they were left alone and not separated," she said.
The twins' mother, however, said she is more worried about the stigma being faced by the twins
Aside from the health of her daughter, Kathy also worries about the stigma that the situation could bring to her twins.
"Tulad kagabi may sumilip na bata. Parang natakot nga po. Parang inano din yung puso ko kasi syempre bata din yun, tao din naman. Yun nga lang nagkaroon sila ng dalawang ulo, isang katawan,” Kathy said.
Doctors continue to monitor the conditions of the twins to prevent them from developing any infection. Report from Sol Aragones, TV Patrol World
