Jeepney slams into Taft drugstore
MANILA, Philippines – A passenger jeepney slammed into a Mercury drugstore branch along Taft Avenue in Manila Tuesday night.
Jeepney driver Bersom Quinto said his vehicle (plate number PWE-565) lost its brakes as he was trying to avoid a passenger bus at the northbound lane of Taft Avenue.
Quinto said he purposely crashed into the drugstore at the corner of Padre Faura to avoid hitting other motorists and pedestrians.
No casualties were reported.
However, 6 passengers of the jeep were brought to a nearby hospital to be examined.
SPO4 Edison Bertoldo of the Manila Traffic Bureau said they will conduct further investigation because they suspect that Quinto was speeding at the time of the incident.
Quinto may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property and driving without license. -- Report from Zhander Cayabyab, dzMM
