2 dead in Pasig drunk driving mishap
MANILA – Two people aboard a tricycle that figured in a road accident in Pasig City were proclaimed dead on arrival after being brought to the Pasig City General Hospital (PCGH) Thursday morning.
The victims were identified as Rudy Deliso, Sr. and a woman named Remedios.
A Ford Everest sport utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into the tricycle that carried Deliso and Villanueva at Kaginhawahan Street, Karangalan Village, Manggahan, Pasig City.
The head-on collision between the SUV and tricycle happened at 2:15 a.m. on Thursday.
Deliso's wife, Lolita, survived the accident. She told ABS-CBN News: “Ang natatandaan po naming ay talagang sinalubong po niya kami eh. Nakalihis po siya sa kalye eh. Ang bilis ng takbo niya.”
The SUV’s driver, Siegfried Villanueva, was remorseful because of the accident he caused. He also admitted that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
“Opo nakainom ako. ‘Di naming ginusto ang pangyayaring ito eh. Tinulungan ko naman at isinakay ko sa sasakyan ko po,” said the suspect.
He also clarified that he did not want to flee the scene because he wanted to help the victims.
Villanueva, who was unscathed in the mishap, is said to be facing double homicide charges.
Authorities have cautioned motorists to be more careful because drunk driving remains the top cause of road accidents, according to the Traffic Management Group (TMG). – With a report from Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News

If drunk driving is one of the main causes of road accident ,Why not utilize our barangay officials to monitor all bars or any stablishments serving liqour within there jurisdictions to prevent this drunk drivers to drive thier vehicles or call police and list down the plate numbers to flag down before making accidents.Police visibility or Police emergency numbers should be posted in all this stablishment enable citizens to call if found people coming out from the bars and crive drunked.
In middle East if you found driving with the influence of liquor,will be automatically put in jail and deported.The local goverment should strictly implement this habit.
