Friday the 13th unlucky for 2 drug peddlers
MANILA - September 13, a Friday, proved to be unlucky for two drug peddlers who were caught in a buy-bust operation by elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Wei Shun Jiang, 34; and Yaya Zheng, 26, were arrested for selling two kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to an undercover agent at the vicinity of a gasoline station in Pamplona 2, Las Piñas City.
The illegal drugs, which had an estimated street value of P10,400, were concealed inside two colored green Chinese tea bags.
PDEA agents also confiscated from the suspects 4 traveling bags containing 44 kilos of shabu worth P 228,800,000 and stored inside 44 colored green Chinese tea bags, one Mitsubishi Montero with plate number PQZ 991 and the buy-bust money.
"The two Chinese nationals are targeted drug personalities of COPLAN: Maximum Break. Friday the 13th proved to be an unlucky day for them and fortunate for us that these suspects, who are capable of distributing voluminous amounts of illegal drugs, are now held in custody," said PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr.
The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II, of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
