Metro Manila on heightened alert due to Zambo crisis
MANILA -- The National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) has ordered all cops in Metro Manila on heightened alert due to the ongoing crisis in Zamboanga City and the recent bombings in Davao.
In a text message, NCRPO spokesperson Chief Insp. Robert Domingo said this is to secure the whole Metro Manila.
The heightened alert means police personnel will be deployed to vital installations such as train stations, malls, terminals, cell sites, embassies and also Malacañang.
NCRPO director Marcelo Garbo Jr. said they will ensure that there will be no spillover of the violence in Zamboanga and Davao.
The standoff between the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) faction of Nur Misuari and government troops is now on its 9th day.
At least 61 people have died.
Meanwhile, five people were slightly injured after suspected improvised bombs exploded at the SM City Davao and Gaisano cinemas on Monday night. -- Report from Dennis Datu, dzMM; Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News
