PDEA chief's wife eyes libel suit vs Gadapan
MANILA, Philippines – The wife of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chief Jose Gutierrez, Estrella, is now preparing a libel case against former PDEA deputy chief Carlos Gadapan, who accused her of having a gambling addiction.
Mrs. Gutierrez denied all the allegations against her, saying she is being used as “collateral damage.”
Ako, naisabit lang diyan,” she said.
She challenges Gadapan to prove that she has a gambling addiction.
A video has allegedly surfaced showing Gadapan inside a casino.
Mrs. Gutierrez also denies having huge debts and says she has not borrowed money from any PDEA official.
Dapat ka ibalik sa kangkungan, you have done me wrong. I want justice,” she said.
Gadapan, meanwhile, says he is ready to face libel charges.
“Naka-ready ako kung anong isasampang kaso sa akin at baka magulat siya dahil may mga lulutang pa eh na mga tao na maniningil sa kanya,” he said.
Former Magdalo members who are now agents of PDEA say they support the National Bureau of Investigation's probe into the matter.
“We trust that the truth will come out from the investigation. Jeoffrey Tacio.
They also say they will not be derailed in the campaign against illegal drugs. -- Report from Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News; ANC
