Man shot dead by 'cop' in Malabon
MANILA - A suspect who claimed to be a cop shot dead another man outside a bar along P. Aquino Street, Tonsuya, Malabon at around 11 p.m. Thursday.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Jimmy Sayson.
According to an employee at the bar, the two had an argument after Sayson joked that he did not have money to pay for his order.
The employee recalled that after the suspect left the bar, Sayson followed and confronted him.
Another witness said the suspect was about to leave on board his motorcycle when Sayson suddenly grabbed his helmet.
In the middle of the argument, the suspect reportedly introduced himself as a cop.
Sayson then hit the suspect, prompting the latter to fire shots at him.
The suspect immediately fled on board his motorcycle with plate number OW-6476.
Authorities are still investigating if the suspect was a real cop.
They are also looking if the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera in the area was able to capture the incident for the possible identification of the suspect. -- Report from Carolyn Bonquin, ABS-CBN News
