Pregnant mom served with bleach in Manila restaurant
MANILA – A man and his pregnant wife complained to police after allegedly tasting bleaching agent in their cups of tea at a Japanese restaurant in Manila on Sunday.
Instead of having the usual cup of tea at a Japanese restaurant in Ermita, Manila, they noticed something unusual in the taste and smell of the beverage.
They already drank a portion of their tea when they noticed that their drinks smelled of bathroom bleach. “Ang sabi ko, parang clorox ang amoy… Tapos nung inumin namin... parang clorox na nga,” said Jeffrey Reyes.
Jefrrey and his wife, Claire, immediately called the attention of the restaurant manager. Claire is pregnant with their first child.
“Pinainom ko sa manager, tapos nag-sorry siya sa amin. Ang sabi niya three days supension ang gagawin nila. Ang sabi ko hindi naman puwede na ganon lang,” said Jeffrey.
The victims added that the manager refused to make an incident report.
Things took a different turn, however, when the couple went to the police. They claimed that the restaurant denied the incident.
A manager of the restaurant declared: “Wala kaming pagkakamali, willing kami magpa-imbestiga.”
Claire said she was surprised by the turn of events. “Nagulat ako, hindi ko talaga inaasahan na magkakaganon,” she said.
Although Jeffrey and Claire did not experience any effect from drinking bleach, they are worried about the bleach’s effect on their firstborn. They have been discharged from the hospital but were asked to return to undergo more tests.
Tests will be conducted to determine if there was really bleach in the tea served to Jeffrey and Claire.
According to the police, this will be the basis for filing cases against the restaurant’s management. – Report from Niko Baua, ABS-CBN News
