ABS-CBN staff in stable condition after robbery
MANILA, Philippines – Jade Gonzales, an ABS-CBN account executive, is now in stable condition after he was robbed and shot early Saturday morning in Barangay Plainview in Mandaluyong City.
The 40-year-old Gonzales still has a bullet embeded in his elbow and will undergo surgery today, according to his sister, Rachel.
His companion, Pedro Orpiano, is also in stable condition.
According to Orpiano’s sister, Imelda, the two were sleeping over at her house when they decided to go out and eat early Saturday.
Orpiano and Gonzales were riding a car on their way back to Imelda’s house when they got lost and asked directions from two men riding a tricycle.
The two suspects, identified as “Ryan” and “Jay-R,” instructed the victims to follow them.
But instead of leading the way back to Imelda’s house, the suspects led Orpiano and Gonzales to a dead end and robbed them.
The two victims were rushed to the Mandaluyong City Medical Center. Gonzales has since been transferred to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City.
Meanwhile, Mandaluyong police is set to watch the footage of the incident captured by the CCTV of one of the nearby houses.
Pursuit operations are ongoing. Police are still in the process of determining how much money was taken from the two victims. Report from DZMM.
