Leader of bus robbery group killed
MANILA – An alleged leader of a bus robbery group was killed in a police encounter on Thursday.
Jonathan Ecleo, alleged leader of Calbayog robbery group, was shot dead at the corner of Boni Avenue and Ortigas Extension after exchanging fire with the police.
Ecleo's brother Jesus and brother-in-law Mariano Lim-it were arrested in the police operation. The three were on board a taxi when they were chased by the police.
Police said they launched an operation after receiving an information of the whereabouts of the suspects.
The Calbayog group was recently tagged in a robbery incident inside a Grace Transit bus along Boni Serrano Avenue.
The group was also allegedly responsible for the death of one of its victims, call center agent Adrian Pascual. – report from Bettina Magsaysay, ABS-CBN News
