Police killed two suspected taxi cab hold-uppers in an encounter inside the UP Village in Quezon City, early Tuesday.

Taxi driver Rodel Lauredo told police that he was cruising inside the Sanville Subdivision in Mindanao Avenue, when two gunmen blocked his way and forcibly pulled him out of the driver's seat.

Lauredo's passenger, Cathy Lumio, said the hold-up men took her valuables and dropped her along V. Luna Avenue, still in Quezon City. She went to the police and reported the incident.

Police found the taxi roving inside the UP Village. When accosted, the two slain suspects pulled out their guns and engaged policemen in a shootout.

Police found Lauredo hog-tied and gagged inside the taxi cab's compartment after the shootout. With a report from Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News
