UST student allegedly stabbed inside FEU campus
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – A woman is in critical condition after she was allegedly stabbed by at least four female suspects inside the Far Eastern University campus in Manila on Tuesday evening.
A police report said victim Joanne Lourdes Concepcion Reyes, 20, had just left the university's auditorium when she was blocked by suspects wearing nursing uniforms, according to one of her companions.
The suspects first attacked with pepper spray before stabbing Reyes, who is an Information Technology student at the University of Santo Tomas.
FEU security guards denied the incident occurred inside the university's campus in Morayta.
However, it was confirmed that Reyes is currently confined at the Chinese General Hospital.
According to the police report, Reyes first attended a film competition on Monday and returned the following day for an awarding ceremony.
Pursuit operations have been launched by police against the suspects, who were reportedly recognized by one of the victim's companions.
The motive for the stabbing has not yet been established, and it has not yet been confirmed whether the suspects were students.
Yesterday's stabbing was not the first such incident to occur inside a university campus.
Last February, a female University of the Philippines student was stabbed in the face in the school's Diliman campus. – reports from Zhander Cayabyab and Johnson Manabat, dzMM
