2 dead in Marikina fast-food robbery
MANILA – A suspected robber and a security guard died following a robbery incident at a fast-food restaurant in Marikina City on Wednesday.
At least four men posed as customers and later disarmed security guard Jericho Belarmino when they robbed a branch of fast-food chain Jollibee at the corner of General Ordoñez Street and Bayan-Bayanan Avenue.
Witnesses said Belarmino took the gun of a security guard from a nearby convenience store and ran after the robbers.
Belarmino, however, was shot dead by one of the robbers. A robber was also shot dead by responding policemen while his three other cohorts managed to escape using a tricycle.
Police recovered two guns and a bag filled with receipts from the slain suspect.
Senior Superintendent Reynaldo Jagmis, Marikina City Police chief, said a cashier told them that the suspects took at least P40,000 from the fast-food outlet.
Jagmis said the suspects may also be behind the robbery at a fast-food restaurant in Pasig City. – report from Bettina Magsaysay, ABS-CBN News
