One dead, 5 hurt in Metro Manila road accidents
One person died and five others were hurt in three road accidents in Metro Manila on Tuesday.
Police Officer 3 Eliazar Camiling of the Las Piñas police traffic sector identified the fatality as Erbie de Leon.
The victim died after his speeding car bumped another car driven by Roggin Rojas along the Alabang-Zapote Road in Barangay Talon 2, Las Piñas City around 3: a.m. Rojas suffered minor wounds.
Camiling said that according to witnesses, de Leon was racing with another car before the accident happened. Rojas, however, told investigators that de Leon tried to dodge a crossing dog, which caused the freak accident.
The traffic policeman said the Alabang-Zapote Road is a notorious area for car racing.
The police were still investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, a woman identified as Bless Morado was thrown from her motorcycle and went under a truck after she was bumped by a sedan along C-5 Road in Pasig City around 1 a.m.
Truck driver Jun Tablan could not recall how the woman went under the truck. He said he just saw the woman being thrown out of her motorcycle.
Tablan stopped the truck just in time to avoid running over Morado.
Three people, including a 13-year-old boy, were hurt in another road accident in Cubao district, Quezon City.
The boy was crossing EDSA when he was hit by a motorcycle driven by Richard Sans.
Sans and his companion were both drunk and were on their home to Teachers Village when the accident occurred.
