MANILA, Philippines - A total of 1,750 policemen will be deployed for the 10.10.10 Run for the Pasig River on Sunday.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the policemen will be deployed to secure and provide traffic assistance for the event, which aims to break the world record for the largest number of participants in a foot race.

The NCRPO said the policemen will be deployed as early as 5 a.m. in areas included in the race.

The starting points of the event will be at the Mall of Asia, the CCP grounds and Ayala Avenue in Makati City. All race categories (3K, 5K and 10K) will start at 5:30 a.m..

Event organizers predict that at least 120,000 people will participate in the foot race, which is seen to break the record of 110,000 runners being held for 22 years by San Francisco's 1988 "Bay to Breakers" race.

The NCRPO said that several areas will be closed to vehicular traffic before and during the event. It advises motorists to avoid:

          - both lanes of Ayala Avenue, from the corner of Makati Avenue to EDSA;
          - both lanes of Macapagal Boulevard, from the corner of Buendia Avenue to EDSA; and
          - South-bound lane of Roxas Blvd., from the corner of Vito Cruz St. up to EDSA.
