MANILA, Philippines – Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Nicanor Bartolome ordered the PNP Quad Staff to take action against high profile crimes that recently hit the metropolis.

Bartolome said they will need to increase police presence and address the high profile crimes that rocked Metro Manila.

“The immediate concern, as I see it, is to allay the apprehensions of our people of a falsely perceived crime wave sweeping the metropolis,” he said.

Just this week, 2 people were killed when suspected members of the “Martilyo Gang” attacked a pawnshop and jewelry store along Recto in Avenida, Manila.

A daylight robbery also hit Union Bank branch in Banawe, Quezon City.

Also in Quezon City, a 68-year-old man was shot by “riding-in-tandem” robbers, who were trying to seize his bag.

“I am henceforth invoking taking to task the Quad Staff of the National Headquarters to initiate action and address the situation w urgency and effect,” said Bartolome.
