Girl shot in Muntinlupa 'misencounter' dies
MANILA – The 10-year-old girl hit by a stray bullet in an alleged misencounter between Muntinlupa Police and Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) died on Friday.
The victim, Heart Macapagal, was hit in the head outside her home in Fabian Compound, Alabang Monday night.
She passed away at 2 p.m. on Friday.
“She was already in a coma, [cardiac] arrest na din siya, meaning tumigil na ‘yung tibok ng puso niya twice. Clinically, ang nagpapatibok nalang ng puso niya ay ‘yung gamot,” said Dr. Argenia Villajin, pediatrics junior consultant of Ospital ng Muntinlupa.
Macapagal’s family is seeking justice for the death of the 10-year-old girl.
“Masakit talaga sa isang magulang mawalan ng anak, bata pa,” said Macapagal’s father, Michael.
“Hinihiling ko lang na kung sino ang gumawa nu’n sa anak ko ay panagutan nila,” said the victim’s mother, Lorna.
The bullet in the victim’s head has been removed and will undergo tests to determine the identity of the gunman.
Police, meanwhile, filed murder charges against SPO1 Aniceto Santiago, a member of the PNP-HPG who shot and killed a Michael Maranan, the alleged target of the operation.
They will also file charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious multiple physical injuries against Santiago. -- Report from Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
