LRT 1 trips delayed anew
MANILA – Passengers of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 again faced the problem of delayed trips on Friday morning.
Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said the delays were due to the longer than usual safety inspection works that had to be completed following a fire incident last Wednesday.
LRT 1 operations only resumed at 6:35 a.m. today, over an hour late of its 5 a.m. scheduled opening.
"LRT1 - full line commercial operation resumed at around 6:35 AM. Please expect delayed train movements, big volume of pax & long queues," Cabrera said on Twitter.
"Humihingi po kami ng paumanhin sa mga pasahero ng LRT 1. Nakikiusap din kami na magbaon po tayo ng barya para sa ticket at mahabang pasensiya," he said in a separate tweet.
Cabrera said LRT 1 usually starts train deployment at 3:30 a.m. to ensure sufficient number of trains will be available when operations start at 5 a.m.
He added that weekday operations require at least 33 trains to accommodate the number of passengers. He said LRT 1 currently can only deploy 27 to 28 trains.
