Yellow rainfall alert raised over Metro Manila, provinces
MANILA - State weather bureau PAGASA raised a yellow rainfall alert over Metro Manila and nearby provinces on Friday night amid heavy rains as Typhoon Santi approaches land.
Aside from the metropolis, the warning covers NuevaEcija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, Zambales, and Bataan.
The areas are experiencing heavy rainfall, PAGASA said.
It warned of flooding in lowlying areas and landslides in mountainous communities.
PAGASA earlier raised signal number 3 over the following areas:
- Nueva Vizcaya
- La Union
- Ilocos Sur
- Mt. Province
- Nueva Ecija
- Northern Quezon
- Polilio Island
- Northern Zambales
Signal number 2 is up over these areas:
- Metro Manila
- Ilocos Norte
- Rest of Zambales
- Rest of Quezon
Under storm signal number 1 are Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Lubang Islands, Marinduque, Camarines provinces, northern Mindoro and Catanduanes.
PAGASA forecaster Cris Perez said the typhoon may make landfall over the northern Aurora-Isabela area between midnight and 3 a.m. Saturday.
