Caloocan barangay poll bet shot dead
MANILA – An incumbent barangay councilor running for barangay chairman in the upcoming polls was shot dead in Caloocan City.
Superintendent Ferdinand Del Rosario, Caloocan Police spokesperson, said victim Victor Ando was shot in the head in Barangay 160 in Sta. Quiteria.
Ando was running for barangay chairman in the October 28 elections after serving three consecutive terms as councilor. He also served as president of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association in their area.
No one was able to identify Ando's assailant, but police investigators suspect politics was behind the killing.
Ando's relatives declined to issue a statement regarding the incident. – report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
