Gang leader, 4 others in Greenbelt 5 heist named
MANILA - Witnesses on Thursday positively identified five of the gunmen who conducted a daring noontime robbery of a luxury watch store in Greenbelt 5 mall in Makati City Sunday.
Senior Superintendent Jaime Calungsod, Southern Police District director, said eyewitnesses positively identified gang leader Alvin Flores as the leader of the noontime heist at the Rolex store. Flores is the leader of the Alvin Flores Gang, a group of criminals that wear military and police uniforms while robbing banks, warehouses and other business establishments.
Calungsod said witnesses also identified four other suspects in the heist. They are Lester and Dave Maceda, Roland de la Cruz and Walter Mutya.
He also confirmed the identity of the lone fatality in last Sunday's heist. He identified the slain suspect as Armando Domingo y Manangan, 32, a resident of San Mariano town in Isabela province.
An ABS-CBN report earlier said Domingo was a former member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) and had been wanted by law enforcers due to a pending murder case.
Calungsod said the Philippine National Police is eyeing a possible P500,000 reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of Flores and his accomplices.
Last October 18, the gang posing as bomb squad members entered and seized P6-million worth of luxury goods from the Rolex Store located inside the posh Greenbelt 5 mall. Two police bodyguards of Taguig Mayor Freddie Tinga engaged the robbers in a shoot-out which left one gang member dead.
