The wife of a labor lawyer on Friday ran to media after her husband became "unreachable" while in the custody of the police.
"He is a good man. Kung siya man ay akusahan I believe na haharapin niya ito ng maayos. The reason why he is still a lawyer, naniniwala siya na nakukuha ang hustisya sa tamang paraan. Sana ilitaw siya," Maricel Saladero, wife of Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) lawyer Remigio Saladero Jr., announced over radio dzMM.
The lawyer was arrested from his home in Antipolo City Thursday afternoon for his alleged involvement in the bombing of a Globe Telecoms cell site in Lemery, Batangas last August.
Authorities believe Saladero is a member of communist group New People's Army.
The regional trial court in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro had issued a warrant the arrest of Saladero, who was charged with conspiracy to commit rebellion, arson and destruction of poverty.
The lawyer’s wife said she spoke with Saladero around 6:30 a.m. at the Calabarzon police headquarters in Camp Vicente Lim in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. She said her husband was supposed to be transported to Calapan City to be presented to the court.
Maricel became anxious because the labor lawyer's cellular phone had become unreachable as of Friday noon.
She added that KMU members who were waiting at the Calapan City court told her Saladero has not arrived.
